Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis Catholicos - new Prince of the Universal Catholic Church from India.
Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI elevated Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis Catholicos, the Major Archbishop and head of the Syro Malankara Catholic Church as Cardinal of the Universal Catholic Church at the Consistory ceremony held at St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican Square on Saturday 24th November. The Pontiff placed the beret and presented the ring as mark of the new designation in the solemn function which was attended by a large congregation of Malankarites representing the various missions all over the world along with hundreds of faithful assembled there to witness the function where other five more were also raised to the status of Cardinal. As the Pontiff placed the red and black beret specially crafted to symbolize the traditions of the Oriental Churches over the Head of Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis, loud cheers and prayers rose from the hundreds who had had gathered at the Basilica.
A Team of ten members representing the Oman Syro Malankara Catholic Community witnessed the whole program in Rome and extended prayerful wishes and felicitated the Cardinal after the consistory ceremony.
The visit of Rev. Fr. Christudas O.I.C -
Rev. Fr.Christudas, the first Director of OSMCC, visited Oman from 22nd to 26th of November as the invited guest in connection with the grand finale of the silver Jubilee celebrations of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Ghala, Muscat. The Malankara Community members arranged a banquet dinner to honor him who had served the community for three and a half years. The gathering paved way to cherish memories with Rev. Fr. Christudas.

OSMCC Malankara Fest - 2012:
OSMCC Malankara Fest 2012 was held on 2nd & 9th November respectively. The programs are being organized to provide an opportunity to nurture the talents of our community members relating to the Holy Bible and Syro Malankara Liturgy.
OSMCC Malankara Meet- 2012
Day 1: Picnic t§o BARKA Farm - It was a day of sports and fun. The trip began at 9 am from the Holy Spirit Church, Ghala, after prayer by Rev. Fr. Mathew Thomas Marottimoottil. We reached Barka around 10 am. The new families who had joined were introduced. To felicitate the smooth functioning of the events all the participants were divided in to four teams. The teams were named respectively as St. Mathew, St. Mark, St. Luke, St. John. To mark the beginning of the competitions, each team was asked to introduce their Saints to whose name they are labeled. The games started from the category of kids. After lunch indoor games were started which was came to an end with ‘Tambola’. Winners were acknowledged with attractive prizes. Day 2: Indoor gathering - The second day was set apart for spiritual enrichment and paper presentations. The retreat by Rev. Fr. Mathew Thomas Marottimoottil based on the theme ‘CHRISTIAN FAMILY’ was really a great experience to the whole group. In the after-noon Mr. John Philip Mathew gave a talk on ‘Malankara Catholic Church’ which was followed by a talk by Dr Cherian Thomas on ‘A reflection on The Catechism of the Catholic Church’. The children of our community who have completed the 10th and 12th classes were felicitated in the valedictory session by presenting mementos.
